Teaching Path Forward

There are very few constants found among those impacted by incarceration. People who are imprisoned, or who have been recently released are literally a sampling of the larger community. Social, cultural, ethnic and economic diversity is present in every jail and prison. Please keep this in mind.

Prepare. Pray. Process.

Prepare for your classes. Pray before and during your classes. Process what is happening during your classes.

Research has shown that there is a significant drop in recidivism depending on an inmate’s level of education. We encourage men and women to participate in classes and help improve their basic reading, writing and comprehension skills.

Some inmates have not been deeply involved with church protocol or government and too much peripheral information can be confusing for new converts or those re-committing their lives. Remember, stick to the basics.
